AMA Finds Success at Whitewater

October 22nd 2015

This past Friday, October 16, UW-Eau Claire’s American Marketing Association traveled to UW-Whitewater for their annual regional conference. The conference gave students the opportunity to network with employers, listen to multiple key note speakers (including speakers from Google and the Milwaukee Bucks), and lastly take part in marketing and sales competitions.

Big congratulations to Jake Pederson, Austin Samsa, Krista Fedor and Molly Wichelt who were finalists for the Kohl’s Marketing Challenge. When they arrived at UW-Whitewater, they presented their marketing solutions to Kohl’s representatives who later selected them for first place!

Another congratulations to our sales team: Elizabeth Kinderman, Lee Peterson, Pauline Ferre, Jared Jaquish, and Keith Kubitschek. Jared, Pauline, and Keith all made finals (3rd place) in the Federated Insurance Sales Competition! In addition, both the marketing and sales team won monetary prices to take home!

AMA also competed in a digital marketing contest at Whitewater! Our competitors included Jeff Skaer, Mitchel Schwonke, Leya Marie, Erin Delehanty, Sam Nechkash, and Dylan Thomas.

On October 22nd, Alyssa Slaby came in to explain LinkedIn and how to build a strong, professional profile. Returning members were able to learn new tips and tricks while our new members learned how to construct one.

Looking to this weekend, AMA is planning to have their annual semester director’s retreat to the Twin-Cities. On October 30, AMA will take the trip down to Chicago in order to attend Aurora’s regional conference in addition to touring companies.

If you are interested in joining AMA, it is never too late! AMA hosts professional speakers and workshops every Thursday at 6 p.m. in Centennial 2614. For more information or general questions, email President Sam Nechkash at or visit
